The Windsor Castle

Today I ventured on my first solo trip to my internship site. It was a test run for the real thing which is tomorrow morning at 9am. Woo!

After I got home, my flat mate Kyle and I went to this pub down the street that is called The Windsor Castle. It is a great little English pub and the bartender (is that what they’re called here?) was sassy and proud of his little spot.

The rest of the gang came and met up with us after and then we got some dinner at another little pub down the street. I got some bangers and mash. MMMM.

I hung with my group for the rest of the day/night. They are all hilarious. We watched this show called Embarrassing Bodies and it was disgusting.

I am loving my time here thus far – can’t believe how much time has already passed. Wish me luck for my internship tomorrow!

Cheers,

Rainy Monday –

‘Ello, Dahlings. I have already been speaking in an English accent like an ass ALL day. All my flat mates are doing it as well.

Today was our Anglo American orientation – our school is quite nice, and all of the people made us feel very welcome. After our orientation my group and I got some lunch at Ask and then headed over to Oxford Street so that we could get a blow dryer and a hair straightener. I also requested we pop into a book store so that I could purchase the first two Harry Potter books to read on my time off. WHY WOULDN’T I?

I am settling in nicely. I am sharing a room with a girl named Maddie. Here she is: She fell asleep last night with half her sammie left! Silly girl.

Been a great day.

Hyde Park

Day deux:

Today I woke up around 11 a.m., took a bath, went to the store, watched some of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and then the boys and I walked around Hyde park. Nice day out – sunny – a little windy though, my face got rather cold. We made a point to find the Peter Pan statue that is in Kensington Gardens (cause I am ten years old). Anyways, the park was beautiful – such a nice day.

Maddie came in today and I decided I wanted to share a room with her because she seems hilarious.

It’s about 10:30 here..I am rather sleepy & there is only so much of QI one (dumb) American can manage for the night.

LOVES,

Londontown – day 1.

After Cari dropped me off at the airport yesterday, I was still feeling pretty nervous/barfy – but, my quick flight to Chicago was easy and by the time I landed I was feeling a bit better.

I decided that I wanted to get a chicken caesar salad and then wait at my gate for the hour and a half lay over I had at O’hare.

Well, whilst swallowing a crouton I totally started to choke. Like, when I tried to breath in just a whirling/sucking/iamdoingtodie sound happened – no air. Luckily I did’t have to get the heimlich from another traveler. PHEW.

Anyways, I got on the plane, called and said goodbye to Cari beri and my Mom and then I was off. I watched The Social Network, burned off my tastebuds via hot beef&rice, and slept until breakfast.

The train into Paddington was really easy, and I had a cabbie drop me off at my front door. I have been hanging with the boys who got in yesterday, and am awaiting the arrival of my female flat mates.

Today we walked around a lot, got lost (but not really), enjoyed a chicken/chorizo wrap with pickles, and went in the grocery store. EXCITING.

SKYPE ME!

LOVES,

All packed up.

Like this great song once said:

All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go
I’m standin’ here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye

I am ready! And by ready I mean all my stuff is put into bags that have rollers on them.

Today I was in shambles – I stayed up super late last night and pretty much bawled all day long. Why, I have no idea. But, I got to hang with Freddy (who is moving to Cali in June), my sister Jyl (who I have not seen for 4 weeks), my sister Melinda (who threw me an amazing going away party), and a lot of my great friends that came to toast me farewell.

I am still stunned that I am really doing this adventure – my anxiety prone tendencies are about to make me curl up in my closet and hide there until July 7th. (HONESTLY, NO ONE WOULD EVEN KNOW.)

London, ready or not, here I come.

Goodnight, I am going to go ahead and cry my privileged ass to sleep now.

LOVE YOU (don’t forget me),

B
