Satur-daze.

5 things I did today:
1. Woke up at 7am (without an alarm) #adult
2. Tried to get lottery tickets to the Book of Mormon with Cam & Jordan. (we didn’t get them – be we did adventure around Times Square)

3. Went to Trader Joe’s and got some of my favorite snacks and foods (uhm, pita chips x3)

4. Did laundry in my apartment building for the first time. Yahoo!
5. Watched Wreck it Ralph with my cousin Poppy + then Mad Men at my cousin Megan’s house while she and her hubs had a night out on ze town.

The weather was amazing today – not too hot or cold and it didn’t rain a single drop. I got a lot done and then got to relax at my cousin’s house – nice first little Saturday night on my own in NYC.

Random thought:
I have this book that I impulsively bought at Barnes & Noble in January..it’s one of those books where you answer a question a day for 5 years.

For 3 months I kept the receipt on the January 1st page because after I got it home I figured I would NEVER write a note everyday for 5 years, thus deciding it was a bad purchase.

In March I found the book and realized that the return receipt had expired, and so I decided that I would just do it. I would write an answer every day for 5 years..

Since that day in March I have answered a question every single day. Most  days I answer the question and move on to the next task (probably watching Arrested Development on Netflix but that’s a totally different story). Anyways, today’s question was: What makes you miserable?

Instantly a few things jumped in my mind: waiting in line at any/all Wal-Mart’s, putting duvet covers on, overhearing a loud gum chomp or two.

But before I put the pen to paper, I really thought about the question…and I think that the real thing that makes me miserable is the fear of loss – of losing something or someone. It’s so weird and heartbreaking and nostalgic and uncontrollable – it’s too many things at once.

Sending lots of love to all of those who are feeling miserable today.

Happy one week, NYC.

I survived my first week in NYC and my first week as a PR intern. Wahooooo! Virtual high-five’s ALL around.

Today was especially fun – after work I took the subway to 86th street and then a cab over to the Met where I chatted with my mom on the phone and then met up with Cam & Jordan (who are visiting from SLC). It was so much fun and surreal to be at the Met with my old friends (I am talking kindergarten, people.) After the museum closed we decided we would go and get pizza and it was like a shower outside of rain…INSANE. We took a cab and got some pizza. Yum.

Now I am in my jammies and getting ready for bed. Here is a little photo recap for the week:

New York City: Day Four

Shambles.

Last night Cari and I stayed up super late watching Ghost on Netflix. SO GOOD. So we had a bit of a slow morning. Finally we got all packed up and ready and headed out to go and check me in to my new apartment. My room is on the 8th floor and the wall is full of windows! I definitely lucked out.

After dropping off my stuff – we headed to Bed Bath & Beyond to get all of my house stuff. Cari & I riding the subway:

A million dollars later we were in a cab back to my apartment. It’s coming together quite nicely! I am very excited. My roomie has yet to appear (crossing my fingers they never show up so I can have my own room!).
New York Day 4 June 2, 2013 3088
Cari and I hung out in my room and watched Moonrise Kingdom before she had to head to the airport. I went with her because she had to make a train transfer and I didn’t want her to carry her bag up and down a bunch of stairs by herself – before I knew it her train was there to take her away. SO SAD! She’s my best friend, sissy, and my second mum. I instantly broke down – it’s hard to be alone here in this big city – but, I am excited to get out and about and start meeting new people.

Tonight though, I am feeling awfully homesick (honestly, punch me in the face right now, huh?) I am so excited to start my internship tomorrow.

Tune in tomorrow for the full recap!

LOVE YOU,

B
