Busy, busy.

We packed so much in today! First, we slept in until 11:45. Then we got some DELISH smashed avocado toast from my favorite coffee place, The Rose Establishment. Seriously, their smashed avocado + toast and an iced chai tea = a new view on your life.

After we ate, we ventured over to temple square. I was surprised to see so many people there on a Sunday (not sure why) but it was cool because we were able to go on a tour of the conference building, and even go up on the roof!Masha and Molly take Salt Lake May 24, 2015 890

Masha and Molly take Salt Lake May 24, 2015 957 Our tour ended, and we walked on the temple grounds and then headed up to Park City where we rode the Alpine Coaster at Park City Mountain Resort (ride it virtually, here). The fun didn’t stop there. We went to historic main street and walked up and down the store-front. I haven’t explored Park City too much – but being up there inspired me to make an effort and get up there this summer. It’s SO pretty!

Back in the valley, we stopped at M&D’s house for dinner. Melinda and Molly came too:Masha and Molly take Salt Lake May 24, 2015 899We ate my mom’s famous navajo tacos – mmmmm. To finish the day with an adventure, we headed north west (hahahah) to Antelope Island. There we went hiking:

They here!

Today us east coasters (two current, one former) slept in and then headed to the hustle and bustle of Salt Lake City to get some brunch at Ruth’s Diner:IMG_4849

IMG_4851After eating a famous mile-high biscuit, we popped into This the Place state park and learned about Utah pioneer history (literally crying laughing right now that I took my friends from NY to This is the Place). THEY LOVED* IT (*not confirmed):IMG_4858

IMG_4864We learned about pioneers and Indians and how to make leather:IMG_4871

IMG_4869 Then we popped into a saddlery to design our own leather and when I walked out and read the description plate I realized it was my great, great grandfather: Benjamin Franklin Johnson‘s saddlery! WHO KNEW?IMG_4879
Don’t you see the resemblance (I do, mainly in the facial hair though…)?

It twas a great time – before we could go on a train ride around the whole park, it was about to pour rain. So, we decided to pop into a movie and skip the storm. We saw Pitch Perfect 2 (hilar) and then grabbed some din at The Dodo (tollhouse pie, anyone?)

Love being able to spend time with these friends of mine. <3

Katie pot pie.

My best is pregnant with her second baby girl. I am so excited for her! When she told me she was pregnant, she shared this pic and said she wanted to recreate it:

Tonight Melinda and I shot the image! I can’t wait to get these pics on my computer and share with Kate and baby Margo for years to come:

HAHA

Okay, so for the last couple of weeks, every time I have driven to work I have wanted to take a picture of this billboard:
really I have almost gotten in a fender bender, THRICE, trying to snap a picture of this bad boy. When you drive past, you see the billboard on top, a public service announcement for a teen-pregnancy hotline, flailing in the wind, as half of it had fallen off. Sad, I thought, that the PSA was falling off. But after discovering what PSA was underneath the torn and tattered 1-800-impreg has provided me with a morning chuckle for the past few weeks.

Naive old me thought it was just a MERE coincidence that the ad under the teen pregnancy hotline was and ad for underage drinking.
really pt 2
Well, I recently discovered this was all just a big scare tactic and have seen multiple billboard of the same idea around town.
