BB.

My first sighting of Big Ben happened on Saturday when I was out wandering. I proceeded to walk around in search of a better view – here is my view from the Embankment Bridge: Walking by the Thames: And finally here he is!:

I have enjoyed venturing off on my own and must admit I feel rather proud of myself for not getting super lost.

Britishlife&culture

First day of our British Life and Culture class! We went on a field trip to the Imperial War Museum. It was splendid:
Then we found this and were super happy:

Then we went to the Swiss Cottage Pub:

Then we got on a bus and went the wrong direction for too long and had a lengthy tube ride home. But, it was okay – we got to see the overground London for a bit vs. the underground. QUITE LOVELY.

Tonight we played cards and walked around Oxford Street. Very good day indeed.

My commute:

I am now going to post pictures and show the journey to and from my internship:
Walking to the Marble Arch underground Taking the escalator down into the (ch)tunnel
Going on the Central line east to Chancery Lane
Looking right and then left The building my internship is in Waiting in the lovely reception area Taking a trip to the loo By mid-afternoon I was up to my eyeballs in new tasks to try and master – which I really quite enjoyed. Admittedly, I am still really nervous about royally messing something up.

Here is my view from the train there and back After I got home, I met my flat mates at the Duke (which is becoming a staple hangout) and then we eventually went to Windsor Castle – which has a handlebar club that I SO wish Connor was here to attend on one Friday while I am here Then I came home and found Mads in an equally hilarious position as when I found her with her sammich

THIS DAY WAS KICKASS.

The Windsor Castle

Today I ventured on my first solo trip to my internship site. It was a test run for the real thing which is tomorrow morning at 9am. Woo!

After I got home, my flat mate Kyle and I went to this pub down the street that is called The Windsor Castle. It is a great little English pub and the bartender (is that what they’re called here?) was sassy and proud of his little spot.

The rest of the gang came and met up with us after and then we got some dinner at another little pub down the street. I got some bangers and mash. MMMM.

I hung with my group for the rest of the day/night. They are all hilarious. We watched this show called Embarrassing Bodies and it was disgusting.

I am loving my time here thus far – can’t believe how much time has already passed. Wish me luck for my internship tomorrow!

Cheers,

Rainy Monday –

‘Ello, Dahlings. I have already been speaking in an English accent like an ass ALL day. All my flat mates are doing it as well.

Today was our Anglo American orientation – our school is quite nice, and all of the people made us feel very welcome. After our orientation my group and I got some lunch at Ask and then headed over to Oxford Street so that we could get a blow dryer and a hair straightener. I also requested we pop into a book store so that I could purchase the first two Harry Potter books to read on my time off. WHY WOULDN’T I?

I am settling in nicely. I am sharing a room with a girl named Maddie. Here she is: She fell asleep last night with half her sammie left! Silly girl.

Been a great day.
